• “Whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst; the water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14
• Saint: St. André Bessette is an amazing example of hospitality and inviting and welcoming for the sake of the encounter. He was a brother of the Congregation of the Holy Cross in Montreal, and he was assigned to be the porter or doorman, welcoming students and visitors to Notre Dame College. St. André had a deep devotion to St. Joseph. He had great compassion and kindness for those he welcomed. For any persons with illnesses, injuries, or disabilities, he would pray for them and ask them to pray to St. Joseph. Sometimes he would give them a few drops of the olive oil burning in the lamp in front of a statue of St. Joseph to rub on their injury. Many people reported complete or partial healing. When this holy man died, over one million people attended his wake and funeral.

… Go Deeper  (Jesus Forms)

• Scripture: Ezekiel 47:1-9,12 (The Wonderful Stream: getting deeper as it flows from the Temple; where it flows, there is life and refreshment)
• “Wherever it flows, the river teems with every kind of living creature; fish will abound. Where these waters flow they refresh; everything lives where the river goes. Along each bank of the river, every kind of fruit tree will grow; their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear fresh fruit because the waters of the river flow out from the sanctuary. Their fruit is used for food, and their leaves for healing.” Ezekiel 47:9,12
• Saint: St. Marianne Cope exemplified accompaniment in her life-affirming, faith-giving work with people suffering from leprosy in Hawaii. Invited by the Bishop of Hawaii, who searched across the US for an order to serve those with leprosy, Sr. Marianne, along with five other Professed Sisters of St. Francis, accepted the invitation. Mother Marianne's invaluable example of never-failing optimism, serenity, and trust in God inspired hope in those around her and allayed the Sisters' fear of catching leprosy. She taught her Sisters that their primary duty was "to make life as pleasant and as comfortable as possible for those of our fellow creatures whom God has chosen to afflict with this terrible disease...". SESSION 4 

… Become Springs of Living Water (Jesus Sends)

1. Mission: Proclaiming & Serving Together -

• Scripture: John 7:37-39 (Rivers of Living Water; living water flowing from within)
• “Let anyone who thirsts come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as scripture says: ‘Rivers of living water will flow from within him.’” John 7:37b-38
• Saint: St. Maximilian Kolbe's life was a spring of living water for many, including the man he gave his own life to save. St. Maximilian had a great devotion to our Blessed Mother. At a young age, he had a vision of Mary offering two crowns for him to choose from: a white crown of purity or a red crown of martyrdom. Maximilian chose both. While studying to become a priest in Rome, he founded the Militia of the Immaculata to “win the world for Christ through the Immaculata.” He and his friars printed monthly magazines, started a short-wave radio station, and had plans to build a movie recording studio. Early in WWII, Maximilian welcomed thousands of refugees, including Jews, at his monastery in Poland until he was arrested by the Nazis and taken to Auschwitz. There he gave the ultimate sacrifice: his life to save another man condemned to death. St. Pope John Paul II canonized him Saint and Martyr of Charity.

• “El que beba del agua que yo le daré, no tendrá sed jamás; el agua que yo le daré se convertirá en él en una fuente de agua que salte para vida eterna”. Juan 4:14
• Santo: San André Bessette es un ejemplo asombroso de hospitalidad y de invitación y  acogida para un mejor encuentro con el otro. Era hermano de la Congregación para la Santa Cruz en Montreal, y fue asignado para ser el portero, dando la bienvenida a los estudiantes y visitantes de Notre Dame College. San Andrés tenía una profunda devoción por San José. Tenía gran compasión y bondad por aquellos a quienes acogía. Cualquier persona con enfermedades, lesiones o discapacidades, rezaba por ellos y les pedía que se encomendaran a San José. A veces les daba unas gotas de aceite de oliva que ardía en la lámpara frente a una estatua de San José para frotar sobre su herida. Muchas personas reportaron curaciones completas o parciales. Cuando este hombre santo murió, más de un millón de personas asistieron a su velorio y funeral.

• Escritura Ezequiel 47:1-9,12 (El maravilloso arroyo: se hace más profundo a medida que fluye desde el templo; donde fluye, hay vida y refrigerio)
• “Dondequiera que fluye, el río está lleno de toda clase de criaturas vivientes; el pescado abundará. Donde estas aguas fluyen refrescan; todo vive donde va el río. A lo largo de cada orilla del río crecerá toda clase de árboles frutales; sus hojas no se marchitarán, ni su fruto faltará. Cada mes darán frutos frescos porque las aguas del río brotan del santuario. Su fruto se usa para comer, y sus hojas para curar”. Ezequiel 47:9,12
• Santa: Santa Marianne Cope ejemplificó el acompañamiento en su trabajo de reafirmación de vida y fe con personas que sufrían de lepra en Hawái. Invitada por el obispo de Hawái, quien buscó en los EE. UU. una orden para servir a las personas con lepra, la Hna. Marianne, junto con otras cinco Hermanas Profesas de San Francisco aceptaron la invitación. El invaluable ejemplo de la Madre Marianne de optimismo, serenidad y confianza en Dios nunca fallan, inspiró esperanza en quienes la rodeaban y alivió el temor de las Hermanas de contraer la lepra. Enseñó a sus hermanas que su deber principal era "hacer la vida lo más agradable y cómoda posible para aquellos semejantes que Dios ha elegido para afligir con esta terrible enfermedad...". … Convertíos en Manantiales de Agua Viva (Jesús Envía)

1. Misión: Proclamar y Servir Juntos -

• Escritura: Juan 7:37-39 (Ríos de Agua Viva; agua viva que fluye de adentro)
• “El que tenga sed, venga a mí y beba. El que cree en mí, como dice la Escritura: 'De su interior brotarán ríos de agua viva'”. Juan 7:37b-38
• Santo: La vida de San Maximiliano Kolbe fue un manantial de agua viva para muchos, incluido el hombre a quien le dio su propia vida para salvarlo. San Maximiliano tenía una gran devoción a nuestra Santísima Madre. A una edad temprana, tuvo una visión de María ofreciéndole dos coronas para que él escogiera: una corona blanca de pureza o una corona roja de martirio. Maximiliano eligió ambos. Mientras estudiaba para ser sacerdote en Roma, fundó la Milicia de la Inmaculada para “ganar el mundo para Cristo a través de la Inmaculada”. Él y sus frailes imprimieron revistas mensuales, comenzaron una estación de radio de onda corta y tenían planes para construir un estudio de grabación de películas. A principios de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, Maximiliano recibió a miles de refugiados en su monasterio en Polonia, incluidos judíos; hasta que los nazis lo arrestaron y lo llevaron a Auschwitz. Allí vivió su último sacrificio: dio su vida para salvar a otro hombre condenado a muerte. El Papa Juan Pablo II lo canonizó Santo y Mártir de la Caridad.
