December 16, 2012 Thoughts Along the Way from Bishop Cary: This Advent marks the first anniversary of the new translation of the Roman Missal for the prayers at Mass. In the Creed we now confess that the Eternal Son is "consubstantial with the Father." October 21, 2012 Thoughts Along the Way by Bishop Cary:  This year Respect for Life month coincides with the beginning of the Year of Faith on October 13th - fittingly enough, for we put our faith in the God of Life. All life comes from Him - but not directly. He "hides" Himself within the loving embrace of a man and a woman when they generate new human life. Our God is both the Giver and the Co-Giver of Life. He shares His creative power with His creatures, bestowing immense dignity on their life-giving role.

October 7, 2012 FORWARD IN FAITH by Bishop Cary:  Beginning this October, Pope Benedict has called the Catholic world to observe a Year of Faith in remembrance of two important anniversaries: the opening of the Second Vatican Council fifty years ago and the promulgation of the Catechism of the Catholic Church twenty-five years ago.

September 23, 2012 Pro-Life Conference Report:  Confronting the reality of direct assaults against religious liberty and freedom of conscience in the United States was the main topic of discussion at the Diocese of Baker Annual Pro-Life Conference on September 8th at the Conference Center in Powell Butte. Over 60 people from throughout Oregon attended this annual gathering to pray, share ideas, and to be updated on policies and trends in government and society affecting efforts to promote and defend our right to life.  To read more about the Speakers, click here.

July 1, 2012 Thoughts Along the Way from Bishop Cary...These words are written in Washington D.C., on my way home from the Bishops' Meeting in Atlanta. Today I spent three hours at the National Mall, visiting the memorials to George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Martin Luther King, and Abraham Lincoln, as well as the memorials to patriotic service in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
